Intermediate goods, producer goods or semi-finished products are goods, such as partly finished goods, used as inputs in the production of other goods including final goods. Trade in intermediate goods can be measured through a breakdown of trade statistics according to the UN classification of Broad Economic Categories (BEC)( 4 ). Trade in intermediate goods now accounts for a significant proportion of the total trade in most countries.
